Grace to Walk Worthy and Bear Fruit

Friday, May 29, 2026
Colossians 1:10
That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God
Walking worthy of the Lord is not about religious performance or checking off spiritual disciplines. It is about alignment, about living in a way that reflects the weight of who God is and what He has done in you. The word “worthy” in Colossians 1:10 suggests a life that balances the scale, a li...

Meeting with the LORD Every Day

"This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night…"

— Joshua 1:8

"Give us this day our daily bread."

— Matthew 6:11

Introduction

"Meeting with the LORD every day" is not a religious routine; it is a divine appointment.

Just as we need daily physical food to survive, we need daily spiritual nourishment to grow and remain strong in Christ. A daily devotional is a dedicated time set aside to commune with God through His Word, prayer, meditation, and reflection. Christian growth does not happen accidentally but it happens intentionally.

1. The Importance of Daily Devotional

1. It Builds Intimacy with God

God desires fellowship with His children. In Genesis 3:8, God walked in the garden seeking fellowship with Adam and Eve. Daily devotional restores and strengthens that fellowship.

2. It Provides Spiritual Strength

Jesus said, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4). The Word of God sustains our spiritual life.

3. It Guides Our Daily Decisions

Psalm 119:105 says, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." Without daily light, we walk in confusion.

4. It Guards Against Sin

Psalm 119:11 — "Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You." Daily intake of Scripture strengthens our resistance against temptation.

II. Why Daily Devotional?

1. Because Our Enemy Is Active Daily

The devil does not rest (1 Peter 5:8). Therefore, believers must stay spiritually alert every day.

2. Because Our Flesh Is Weak

In Matthew 26:41, Jesus said, "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation." Daily prayer keeps the flesh under control.

3. Because God Speaks Daily

God gave Israel manna daily in Exodus 16. They could not store it for tomorrow. This teaches us that yesterday's Word cannot sustain today's challenges.

4. Because Growth Is a Daily Process

2 Corinthians 4:16 says our inward man is renewed day by day. Spiritual growth requires consistency.

III. The Impact of Daily Devotional in the Christian Life

1. Spiritual Maturity

Regular exposure to Scripture produces maturity (Hebrews 5:14).

2. Stronger Faith

Romans 10:17 — "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Daily devotional strengthens confidence in God.

3. Peace and Stability

Isaiah 26:3 — "You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You." Daily meditation produces inner peace.

4. Fruitfulness

In John 15:5, Jesus said, "He who abides in Me bears much fruit." Daily fellowship produces visible spiritual fruit.

5. Spiritual Discernment

Through daily study, believers learn to distinguish truth from error (Hebrews 4:12).

IV. How to Study Daily Devotional

To effectively meet with the LORD daily:

1. Choose a Fixed Time

Early morning is recommended (Mark 1:35), when Jesus rose early to pray.

2. Choose a Quiet Place

Find a place free from distraction.

3. Follow This Simple Pattern:

A

Prayer

Begin by asking the Holy Spirit for understanding (John 16:13).

B

Reading

Read the Scripture portion carefully and repeatedly.

C

Meditation

Reflect deeply on what God is saying (Psalm 1:2).

D

Application

Ask: How does this apply to my life today?

E

Prayer Response

Pray the Word back to God.

4. Keep a Devotional Journal

Write down revelations, instructions, and prayer points.

5. Maintaining Daily Bible Studies

Consistency is key to spiritual growth.

1. Be Disciplined

Spiritual growth requires discipline (1 Timothy 4:7).

2. Set Achievable Goals

Start with manageable portions and increase gradually.

3. Avoid Excuses

Busyness is not an excuse. Even Jesus made time for prayer.

4. Join Corporate Devotion

Acts 2:42 shows believers continued steadfastly in doctrine and fellowship.

5. Depend on Grace

Ask God for strength to remain consistent (Philippians 2:13).

Conclusion

Meeting with the LORD every day transforms ordinary believers into strong, mature, and fruitful Christians. It strengthens faith, guards the heart, sharpens spiritual discernment, and deepens intimacy with God.

Daily devotional is not a burden. It is a privilege.

Let us commit ourselves to meeting with the LORD every day, because a day without God is a day without direction, strength, and peace.

"Draw near to God and He will draw near to you."

— James 4:8

May our church grow stronger as we develop the culture of daily fellowship with the LORD.
